Important: Marigold and Lettice chunky china with hand-painted colored glaze elements will have a creamier white background, unlike the bright white background of our all-white china. If you are ordering pieces with color alongside all-white ones and prefer a uniform background tone, please leave a message at checkout.

One size does not have to fit all when it comes to serving bowls. Nor do they all have to be the same design however they do, in Marigold and Lettice terms, must be very chunky and full of texture and be able to go in the dishwasher!

Now, we have the perfectly imperfect serving bowl for all your needs and occasions from simple suppers to a full-on party; overflowing with nibbles, olives, crisps or roasties; or what about using them for salads or as a fruit bowl? The choice is yours!  Our serving bowls - which nest together beautifully - are ideal to take to the table as a serving dish and bold enough to impress anyone - even if empty! Do you know, they even make great plant pots!

Now available in four sizes: small, medium, large and extra-large, please check out the dimensions section below for the approximate sizes.  They all have flat bases and deliciously wavy edges.

Carrots 🥕 are for life not just for Easter and rabbits you know, and these serving dishes with one, oversized carrot on it is just the ticket (in our opinion!!) year-round.

Available in all white or coloured and of course can go in the oven, dishwasher and microwave.

Please note that they aren't mass-produced and if you are opting for coloured carrots, then remember that these are all painted by hand and you may see areas of white coming through the orange. Each and every one is unique and a one off meaning that they won’t be/can’t be identical.

The carrot stays the same size regardless of what bowl you choose.

  • Small - white £35 / coloured £45

  • Extra-large - white £70 / coloured £85

* please note that the picture showing the different sizes features the bobble design, but we just wanted you to see the sizes we offer!

T I M I N G S

Getting your perfect piece to you is our priority but as each piece is made to order (we don't hold any pieces in stock), the process takes a MINIMUM OF FOUR WEEKS although this is just a guide and if it goes over please bear with us, if it goes under let's celebrate!

I M P O R T A N T    I N F O R M A T I O N

Our china looks and feels very (very) different to mass-produced pottery; it’s not fine or delicate, but wonderfully chunky and full of texture, you’ll see thumb prints, makers marks, glaze specks/drips and heaps of individuality. We call it perfectly imperfect pottery and firmly believe it’s all the better for it!

Please note that because each piece is unique the design will be different from the one in the picture – similar but unique.

Marigold and Lettice pottery is (hand)made to be loved and used, and happily goes in the oven, dishwasher and microwave.

  • Marigold and Lettice pottery is made to be used, loved and enjoyed; it’s made using sturdy earthenware clay and a thick white glaze. This means it’s hard-wearing and every piece can safely go in the oven, dishwasher, microwave and even the freezer.

Each piece that is made by Marigold and Lettice is totally handmade and a one-off. So, if you see thumb prints in the clay or the glaze that may be thicker in some parts than others, it's because each piece is unique and is what gives our chunky china its specialness, and a different look and feel to mass-produced pottery.

When you first get your chunky china piece you may hear a ‘ping’ - especially the first time the pottery meets with water.  If you do, please don’t worry, it's really quite normal and will stop as soon as the glaze/clay settles down together.  You may also notice that the bottom of every piece is left unglazed, and this may leave a slight residue on your shelves, but can be easily wiped away with a damp cloth.

Like with all china, over time you may also notice signs of use in the glaze, but these are just signs of the china being well-loved. If this is the case, please be assured, the piece will still be perfectly fine to use.
